This class is designed specifically for those who want to explore yoga in its entirety – not limited to the physical aspects you might exclusively encounter in other classes. What does it mean to "get yoked"?! Classically, the word yoga translates to mean "union" or “to yoke.” While many yoga classes give primary attention to the asanas (physical postures), this class will expose students to all 8 limbs of yoga and offer a wider perspective on the union of mind/body/spirit. This 8-week series begins with the yamas (moral imperatives) and niyamas (virtuous habits). Over the weeks, a deeper understanding of pranayama (breathing techniques) and the other limbs of yoga will be explained and incorporated into this engaging practice.
This class is offered as a repeating, 8-week series. Drop-ins welcome to any class, anytime. An exceptional text to learn more about the 8 limbs of yoga, from which Topher will be teaching, is "The Bhagavad Gita - Introduced and translated by Eknath Easwaran." Book not required to attend.
